I'm very sad to bring you news that Sheila Hudson has died after a period of illness.

Sheila has long been one of Cross Stitches most popular and best-loved designers. Her vibrant, beautiful work has filled the pages of CrossStitcher and Cross Stitch Collection for as many years as we can remember.

Sheila's talent was unique. She hand-drew every chart and her eye for texture, form and shading was so good she only ever used whole stitches, making her designs a joy to stitch. Your enthusiastic and appreciative letters over the years are testament to her skills.

She has given pleasure to a whole generation of stitchers and we will miss her very much.

At Sheila's funeral we decided to plant a spring garden at the entrance to our village. We received enough donations to plant bulbs and spring flowers at both ends of the village. We also intend to plant two or three trees as well.

Sheila's family is now running her kit business.
